Recent Years
This is what we and our extended families
look like today. We are caught in formal, contemplative, and playful
scenes that best reflect who we have become. Be cautious, flipping back
and forth between this gallery and ones that preceded it causes reality
shock.
The pictures in the gallery are
thumbnails—pictures that are large enough to see generally what they
contain, but small enough to get a whole bunch on a single page. When
one strikes your fancy, click on it and you will be hyperlinked to a
larger version of the photo. This version also contains quips provided
by classmates.

Vernon Brinkley sent
this one. He probably wishes it would count for the
reunion fishing tournament, but it won't:

This one came from Bob
Campbell and was taken in 1999 at his home in Orlando, Florida:

Here's the Hortons and
the Hanrahans:
Jim Horton sent these
pictures and it was difficult deciding which photo gallery to put them
in. Looking at how old the men looked, it was apparent that they
belonged in the recent years gallery. The photos were taken at a
mini-reunion held as a cocktail party at the home of Jay and Lolly Burke
in Vienna Virginia in 1993. It included as many area (and those
they could persuade to travel) NNHS alumni as they could identify from
the Jay (1955) and Lolly (1957) era:

This one came in from Jay Burke showing
Jim Horton on vacation in Hawaii:

Barbara Fowler DeWitt sent these photos of the December party
that Horace Williams hosted for the Reunion Committee members
and significant others. It was in a nice private room at
the Norfolk Yacht Club where Horace picked up the tab for
cocktails and extensive hors d'oeuvres. When everyone was
suitably lubricated, we proceeded to the dinning room for
dinner. It was a great evening with conversation dominated
by a ". . . remembrance of things past."

Here's a few of
Vernon Brinkley and Horace Williams on a 2005 skiing trip.
They were on Snowmass Mountain in Aspen, Colorado Jan 9 through
15. According to Vernon, they were two old ski bums trying
to act like they were 39 again. The weather was bad for
the first two and a half days, and the pictures reflect how cold
it was, but despite the weather, they had an enjoyable time,
good skiing, good food, and slope-side accommodations.
when they arrived there was a party going on of 45 to 50
year-old skiers. After joining the group, they found out
they were from Newport News, Virginia. They didn't know
any of them, but there was plenty to talk about. It's a
small world.
Here is a photo from
Barbara Fowler DeWitt taken at a recent lunch with some classmates.

Barbara also provided a
group of photos of the March Committee meeting at Mike's Place in
Hilton. Click on the one below.

Doris Bowden Hopkins sent
two pictures as part of a box of scrapbook items she provided.
