Bicycling
Trip
Jack Shepherd has agreed to
coordinate a bicycling trip through the Yorktown battleground roads on
Saturday morning, October 8, at 9:30 a.m. The group will meet in
the parking lot at the Yorktown Visitor's Center at the Yorktown end of
the Colonial Parkway. There is little or no car traffic, with
paved roads and historic sites like George Washington's Headquarters.
The ride will be about two hours long with stops and breaks along the
way, and the pace will accommodate most any speed of riders. The
ride will end at the new Nick's restaurant for a light lunch at noon.
The ride will be canceled if it is raining at 9:00 a.m. Sounds
like the perfect trip for a group celebrating their fiftieth high school
reunion.
Jack will arrange for loaned
bikes and helmets for anyone without their own bike, but he must have at
least one week of lead time to do so.
